The Linnaeus Garden

The Uppsala University Botanical Garden is the oldest botanical garden in Sweden. It attained worldwide fame in the days of Olof Rudbeck and Carl Linnaeus. The oldest garden is today known as the Linnaeus Garden. It is laid out in the French Style where each part of the garden reflects Linnaeus’ ideas. Each plant was carefully chosen to serve an educational purpose. Today the garden houses approximately 1300 species, all originally cultivated by Linnaeus and arranged according to his own system.
